Wrapping Up The Week (2nd April – 8th April)

I’m going to start this post off by saying that, as of today, I am now an affiliate for the Book Depository, which is something I have wanted to do for a while now. My reasons for doing this are that I hear so many of you saying how my reviews have made you want to read certain books and the Book Depository is one of the best sites to buy them from. Not only are the prices amazing, but there is also free shipping (and who doesn’t love that). It would mean so much to me if you were to use the links on this site to buy what I hope will be your new favourite read.

Apart from that, this week has also been amazing because of the amount of reviews I managed to get up on the blog. I had been falling behind for a little while and now I am caught up with everything. Not only that, but I have also started editing my novel properly again as of yesterday and knocked it out of the park with finishing two chapters off (one was a complete re-write as well).

Books I read and reviewed…

children of blood and bone

Finally, I sat down and wrote my review for Children of Blood and Bone, which you can find here. I still cannot get over how incredible this book was and I am dying to get my hands on the next one. If you haven’t had a chance to read this yet, make sure you add it to your TBR. This is a whirlwind adventure that has heart-pounding action sequences, romance and a great magic system for you to enjoy.

norse mythology

The next book I read and reviewed this week was none other than Norse Mythology. I am a big fan of mythology, mainly Greek, but I wanted to give something different a go. I had never read anything by Neil Gaiman before and was blown away by his storytelling. The tales leapt off the pages and the way it was done made me enjoy them even more. You can read my full review here.

the oracle queen

Lastly, I read The Oracle Queen, which is a novella set in the fantasy world created by Kendare Blake. It tells the story of a Queen driven mad by her visions and locked away to keep everyone safe. But the story isn’t what it seems and I loved getting a chance to find out what really happened. It isn’t the best I have ever read, but it was entertaining enough for me to have read it in one sitting. You can see my review for this book here.

I am currently reading…

nevernight

I started Nevernight about halfway through the week and am just about a third of the way through. While this isn’t a huge book, the words on the page are smaller than normal and there is so much detail that I am finding myself reading slower to take it in. So far I am loving the characters, especially Mia who is so frank with what she does and says. It is definitely different to most books, with annotations throughout, and a lot more swear words, but I kinda love it for that. I can’t wait to see where the story goes. And there’s a shadow cat. How can I not love that?

ash princess

As well as Nevernight, I also started Ash Princess today, which I received from NetGalley. I’m not far into it, so I can’t say a lot about it, but I am liking the background of the world. We have been introduced to a few of the characters, one being a terrible ruler who I just know I’m going to hate, and a girl who has been tortured and punished most of her life. I’m really looking forward to seeing what this debut novel holds.

Wrapping Up March ’18 – The Busiest Month

March Book Haul – Books Make Great Gifts

I took a break from my usual blog posts to give you my wrap ups for March, which was a great month. Coupled with all the reviews I managed to write, I would say that it has been a successful week.

My WIP…

As mentioned above, I have dived back into my edits and I am so glad I have. I can already feel the characters’ voices getting stronger and I am changing little details of their personalities. I want people to be able to relate to them, but I also want my readers to be entertained. Chapter 3 was a tough one as I had to scrap all of it (I didn’t like it in the end) but I managed to introduce a certain character a lot sooner and it’s made me very happy. I want her to have a more prominent role in the story and to do that I have to breathe life into her. She is snarky, sarcastic and loves to make my main male character’s life hell. Their scenes together are some of the best.

So far I have edited over 3,000 words and finished off two chapters out of thirty odd. I still have a long way to go, but I’m heading in the right direction.

Other Fun Stuff…

I guess having a three day work week can count as fun, right? Those three days were busy, but it was also nice to have a little break. The next 11 days are going to be busy as I need to start packing up all my stuff to get ready for the move, so you can count on me having a few early nights.

I hope you all had a great week and enjoyed whatever book you were reading! Let me know in the comments what you finished reading.

Wrapping Up The Week (26th March – 1st April)

Happy Easter everyone! I hope you’ve all been stuffing your face with chocolate eggs.

Well, that’s the first quarter of the year over with and it has been a hectic one to say the least. March as a whole was a pretty decent month. My boyfriend and I found a place to live, I finished writing my book (woo!), I also read some amazing books, and work has been getting better ever since I started doing more client work. I am looking forward to all the April will bring, even if it is going to be a very stressful month with the move and making sure everything is sorted. Who knew adulting could be so hard?

The last week has been spent making a list of everything we need to buy and slowly but surely I have been making my way through it all. We have officially finished buying things for the kitchen, I have a sofa in mind to order and the bedroom furniture is on its way. To keep myself calm I have been reading a couple of amazing books that I can’t wait to talk about.

Books I read and reviewed…

siege and storm

I finally got a review up for Siege and Storm after finishing it last week, which you can read here. I really enjoyed the second instalment of this series, seeing the characters develop and the story progress nicely. After the ending I can’t wait to dive into the final book and find out what will happen to Alina and those she cares about.

children of blood and bone

While I haven’t uploaded a review just yet (I’m planning on doing that tomorrow) I finished Children of Blood and Bone, and oh my god, it was the best book I have read so far this year. Everything about this debut was amazing, from the world building to the dialogue, to the fully fleshed out characters. It was action packed from the very beginning and it had me hooked. I wish I had the second book in my hands, especially after reading the ending! Keep your eyes peeled for a review where I get very excited.

I am currently reading…

norse mythology

I am about halfway through Norse Mythology and I have been really enjoying it. When I was younger I used to love reading about Greek mythology, whether it was in YA or text books, and I figured it would be a good idea to find out more about the Norse Gods (considering I only have a bit of knowledge thanks to Marvel). I can’t wait to read the rest of these stories and learn more about our favourites, Thor and Loki.

Top Ten Tuesday: Books With Incredible Fantasy Worlds

WWW Wednesday – West-African Inspired Fantasy

As I’ve been getting ready and planning for moving house it’s been a bit of a quieter week on all fronts. I still have Monday and Tuesday off from work so hopefully I can plan ahead and get a bit more done.

My WIP…

Even though I haven’t dived straight into the first revision yet, I did manage to do a bit of editing and finally got the first two chapters done, which is a start. There are so many changes I know I need to make and it is quite daunting to me. I don’t know where to start, but I can’t go wrong with taking it page by page. The beginning needs a lot of work (I’m the type that doesn’t really know where my plot is going until the middle) but I can’t wait to start it properly.

Other Fun Stuff…

Can we count buying house stuff as being fun? I mean, I have enjoyed picking out what colours my pillows should be and what size sofa we should get, but it’s been stressful and a lot more work that I would have thought (and money too!).

I did, however, get around to watching…

the-greatest-showman-hd

The Greatest Showman, which was as amazing as I thought it would be. The music was incredible, and the story was so heart warming, with a great message behind it and it was a pleasure to watch! Also, who doesn’t love Hugh Jackman?

And that was my week! A little bit all over the place, but sometimes they are the best. What books did you manage to read this week?

Wrapping Up The Week (19th March – 25th March)

This week has been incredible and I haven’t felt this happy in a long time. Not only did I get to celebrate my birthday yesterday, but my boyfriend and I got accepted to rent our first house together and we have started to buy things already. With less than a month until the moving date we have a lot to sort out (and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t stressed, because I am). At the same time as being exciting it is a little nerve wrecking as it’s my first time living without my mum or my boyfriend’s parents (we stayed with them for a bit). Still, I can’t wait to decorate my own place. You can probably expect some home-ware/moving blog posts closer to the date.

My birthday was relaxing and I definitely needed the three day weekend. Luckily we have another long weekend coming up thanks to Good Friday and Easter Monday (thank you bank holidays). Due to the celebrations I haven’t done a lot of reading, but I did get some new books that I can’t wait to read!

Books I read and reviewed…

siege and storm

While I haven’t gotten around to writing a review for this yet, I really enjoyed Siege and Storm, so much so that I was almost tempted to buy the last book (I didn’t because I have too many to read already). But once I read a few more I might treat myself, especially when it’s so cheap on the Kindle. The characters in this story have really captured me and I am excited to find out how it all ends for them.

I am currently reading…

children of blood and bone

I am currently 116 pages in and I am loving it! The writing style is one of my favourites to read, it flows nicely, there’s been some action, mythology, and I’ve been introduced to some great characters. This world is so unique and different from anything else I’ve read. I just know that I am going to love this book if it carries on this way. There’s been a lot of love for Children of Blood and Bone (I mean, it hit number 1 on the NYT Bestsellers list straight away) and I’m excited to see if it lives up to the hype.

WWW Wednesday – Fantastical Worlds

It’s My Birthday!

A fairly quiet week due to being so busy with life and such, but I hit my target of three so I’m happy with it.

My WIP…

I’m still on a hiatus from my editing. I know I need to start, and I had planned to, but with my birthday weekend it fell to the side. This week will be different as it will be a lot slower and more relaxed. Plus, with the extra long weekend I will have lots of time to plonk myself down in front of the laptop.

Other Fun Stuff…

Most of you have probably read about what happened for my birthday and how I had my hair dyed, so that’s the majority of my fun stuff. I got around to watching Logan (I cried) and Shadowhunters is FINALLY back on Netflix. The first episode was really good and I can’t wait to watch some more. Even Riverdale had a better episode this week (although Archie and Veronica still annoy the hell out of me).

page-break

To sum it all up, this week has been one of my favourites of the whole year so far. I feel happy and blessed to have so many people around me that support and love me. 2018 is gonna be my year, I can feel it.

I hope you all had a great week as well! Let me know what books you got around to reading in the comments below.

Wrapping Up The Week (12th March – 18th March)

It’s been one of those weeks where it was very tiring and I needed a couple days of doing nothing towards the end of the week. I was hoping to have finished 3 books this week but instead it was only 2. I’m still happy about that though. With my birthday weekend coming up and the Easter bank holidays I am sure I’ll be getting a lot of reading done.

As you all probably know, I finished writing my novel a couple of weeks ago but I haven’t begun the editing process yet. I still have it running around in my head, thinking of new ways to change the story, to make it better. I might also be putting it off because it’s such a big task and I’m not really sure where to begin. Maybe a little research on the art of editing is in order.

Books I read and reviewed…

tokillakingdom

Even though I finished To Kill A Kingdom last week, I finally got the review up and submitted it to NetGalley as well. It was such a great read and very enjoyable, with fleshed out characters and a lot of action as well. If you’re a fan of pirates and sirens, you definitely have to check out this imaginative spin on the tale. You can check out my full review here.

9781510104518

I want to say that this is the best book I have read so far this year. Words can’t even describe how much I loved this collection of deliciously dark tales. I can’t even believe that I managed to read it all in less than 24 hours. It’s pretty much unheard of now thanks to all the responsibilities of adult life. If you would like to see what I thought, click here

shadow and bone

Once finishing The Language of Thorns I decided to move on to the Grishaverse trilogy because of how much I fell in love with the world that the fairy tales were set in. While Shadow and Bone started off a little slowly, it was very intriguing and a great introduction to this magical world. I cannot wait until I get to read the Six of Crows duology later on. Click here to check out my review in full.

I am currently reading…

siege and storm

After the ending of the first book I just had to buy the second one! I am about a third of the way through so far and it’s started off great with some action and betrayal. I am hoping that I enjoy it as much as the first, if not more, but hopefully I can finish it by Wednesday and have a review up as well.

Top Ten Tuesday: Books That Took Me Completely By Surprise

WWW Wednesday – Goodbye Reading Slump

Managing to write two blog posts as well as three reviews counts as a good week for me so I’m happy. I’m getting back into the swing of things and have a couple of ideas planned. I might start a weekly feature to talk about my writing and as it is my birthday on the 24th I will be doing a birthday blog post (and possibly show off the books I get).

My WIP…

Like I said earlier, I have taken a break from the novel that I need to edit. However…I may have had an idea for another novel…And I might have already created a Pinterest board. This always seems to happen to me when I am about to edit. Something new and shiny comes along, but this time I want to write it as well as editing my previous work. Hopefully it can offer a nice, creative break from the editing which will probably feel torturous. Also, stay tuned for a book aesthetic for the new novel idea in the upcoming week. I can’t wait to share it!

Other Fun Stuff…

The_Lord_of_the_Rings_Characters

This week my boyfriend and I marathoned The Lord of the Rings trilogy and it was amazing to watch them again. It must have been years since I last saw them and I was reminded why they are one of my favourite film series ever. We watched the first two Saturday night and the last one today before football was on. We enjoyed some tasty popcorn and chocolate, and I have no regrets about the amount of calories consumed.

And that was my week in a nutshell! I hope you all had a great one as well. Let me know what your favourite book of the week was in the comments below!

Wrapping Up The Week (5th March – 11th March)

I didn’t want to admit it, but I’ve been in a reading slump for the last two weeks. It wasn’t necessarily because I wasn’t enjoying the book I was reading (I was), it’s just that I didn’t have the motivation to read for some reason. I wasn’t getting hooked like I normally would and there’s been a lot going on in my life. Although, I do have some good news. I am reading a new book that has captured my attention and already I am over half way and I only started it last night (I will discuss what book it is down below). Bye, bye reading slump!

The week definitely went by quickly, with a lot going on at work and looking forward to the meal I had on Friday with the whole team. All in all, it’s been a relaxing weekend as well. Saturday was spent not doing too much, but today we went out to a nature park for a 3-mile walk, and we even spotted a little rabbit hopping around. I’ve spent most of the last two days reading and it’s made me feel a lot better.

Books I read and reviewed…

tokillakingdom

While I haven’t got a review up yet (I’m hoping to do that tomorrow), I finally finished reading To Kill A Kingdom, and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. It might have taken me a little longer to read, but it was fun, entertaining and showed a different take on sirens, pirates and mermaids. I can’t wait to let you all know my thoughts on it.

I am currently reading…

9781510104518

I. am. hooked. This collection of stories has taken my breath away and I am loving every second of it. This is the first book I am reading by Leigh Bardugo (I have the Six of Crows duology on my shelf and Shadow and Bone on my Kindle) and I am so glad that I chose to start here. My favourite tale so far is the first one, Ayama and the Thorn Wood. The illustrations are beautiful and I love how with each page that gets turned there is more added to them until you reach the amazing double-spread image. I can’t wait to read the last two stories in the collection.

February Book Haul – Book Buying Ban Was Successful

With a reading slump comes the lack of blog posts, but I am hoping that over the next week there will be more for me to talk about, especially when the next couple of books I want to read. I’m being very open with what I’m reading this month, so there’s no TBR for March and I am completely okay with that.

My WIP…

I’ve decided that I need a little time away from my manuscript to gain some new perspective on the story and come back to it with a fresh pair of eyes. Ideas are constantly running around my head of how I can make the story better and I make sure to write them down before I forget. The next week will be spent relaxing, reading and hopefully, come next weekend, I make a start on really diving into the edits. I can’t wait!

Other Fun Stuff…

I mentioned heading out for a meal with my work colleagues, which was fun as I don’t always get a chance to talk to people in the development team as I’m part of the marketing team. Apart from that it has been a very relaxing week with not a lot of fun stuff going on at the moment. I’m trying to catch up with YouTube videos and TV shows, such as Riverdale.

page-break

I’m sorry for being a little MIA lately, but I’m going to try harder for next week. I never realise how much I miss blogging and talking to you all until I have moments like this. I hope you all had great weeks! Let me know what your best book from the week was in the comments.

Wrapping Up The Week (26th February – 4th March)

Looks like 2018 is flying by already! This week has been a bit all over the place thanks to the snow that hit the UK. I had to work from home for three days and I ended up getting ill just before the weekend. Luckily I’m doing a lot better now, and something exciting happened…I finished the first draft of my book, which I posted about in a blog post here.

Unfortunately, because I was so focused on finishing my book, and being so ill with a cold that I couldn’t concentrate, I haven’t read a lot this week. I didn’t even finish a book, but it’s okay. I am looking to change that this week and hopefully finish the two I am halfway through (although one will be more difficult to get through than the other).

Books I read and reviewed…

None. Nada. Zilch.

Trying to ignore the feeling of failure right now and tell myself it’s okay not to have finished a book. I’ll do better next week. I hope.

I am currently reading…

tokillakingdom

Once again I am still reading this book (I hate getting ill), but I am determined to read some more tonight once I settle down for the evening. I am enjoying this book and really want to get a review up before its release date on the 8th. Wish me luck!

Also, I will try my best to finish Zenith. Hopefully.

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Would Read Again

WWW Wednesday – IT’S A SNOW DAY!

Wrapping Up February ’18 – Time Flies

I Finished My Book!

This week was a great one for blogging and I got more done than I originally thought I would. Now that I’m getting into the flow of writing/editing on my lunch breaks at work, I can dedicate my evenings to blogging and reading (as well as watching my fave TV shows).

My WIP…

You all know that I have now finished the first draft, but that doesn’t mean I stop there. Oh no, I’ve already started the editing process by reading over the first two chapters of my book. Then I opened up a new document and I am re-writing it. Not completely, but there are descriptions I want to add, take away, dialogue that needs changing, and I need more mystery, I want to hook my readers and with the ideas still in my head, I have to jot them down. Already I have done over 3,000 words (who knew I could edit it that quickly), but this is only the first of many.

Other Fun Stuff…

The boyfriend and I finally got around to catching up with Lucifer, which was incredible as always, but apart from that I didn’t do a lot of fun stuff. The snow really halted everything and I think I ended up getting cabin fever in the end. Luckily it has all melted now and work can resume as normal tomorrow, which I am very happy about because I don’t like working from home. Too many distractions.

page-break

I feel like I’m on cloud nine at the moment and I am hoping I can ride that momentum into the next week. I hope that you all had a great week as well and hopefully you read more than I did!

I Finished My Book!

That was something I wasn’t expecting to write yet, but I have finally completed my first draft of my novel. I even got a bottle of Moet to celebrate with.

IMG_7854

More than a year ago I started the first few chapters, without having any idea of where I wanted to go with it. I didn’t even know what kind of genre it would be. I forgot about it, left on my documents with the name “New Book”, until the end of September, 2017. I had just gotten back into reading again and I was loving the Young Adult Fantasy books I was catching up on. Then the idea hit me. That was exactly what I wanted to write and so I opened up that untitled document and started writing. I created a world with a unique magic system, a dark cult that was threatening the existence of the Kingdoms and a girl who was so much more than she thought she could be.

It hasn’t been easy and there’s been times where I was unmotivated, hit writers block and genuinely had no idea what I was doing. But I made it through the tough times and with a target of writing 1,000 words every day, I made progress. Finally, I have finished the first draft and I am over the moon. Standing at 100,405 words and 36 chapters so far, it is complete. I am still unsure of the name yet, however, I have a few ideas of what will fit.

My little book about self-discovery, romance, magic, danger and darkness may be finished, but I am far from being done with it. There is a lot of polishing to do, some plot holes to fill and changes to be made, but I am ready for it all. Here’s to all the editing that’s about to take place.

My Post

Wrapping Up February ’18 – Time Flies

Well, March really did creep up on me. It’s supposed to be spring time and yet we were just hit with the most snow we’ve seen in the UK in years and I’ve had to work from home for the last three days (not as fun as it sounds when you can’t leave the house at all). The start of the month hasn’t been too great as I am once again ill and haven’t read a book in a couple of days now.

February came and went within the blink of an eye, but it was a busy month so I’m not really surprised. Hard to believe we’ll be over a quarter of the way through the year before we know it and in just over three weeks it’ll be my birthday. That means more book buying (and books being given as gifts).

I have some exciting news about my current WIP…it’s almost finished. I’m currently at 97,000 words (seems like a lot now) and I only have two chapters left to write. TWO! This book is everything to me and I love the characters so much. There is a lot of work to do, some plot holes to fill in, dialogue to flesh out, but I am so excited. I even bought a bottle of Moet & Chandon Rose to celebrate tomorrow night (because I will finish it tomorrow, I just know it). The last time I finished writing a book was a long time ago, maybe 2011/2012. I’m not sure, so it is an amazing feeling to have again. Let’s hope I can get an agent.

Books I Read…

Keeper of the Watch by Kristen L. Jackson

keeper of the watch

The first book I finished in the month was a bit of a disappointment to me. I went into it knowing I didn’t really enjoy the sci-fi genre and I hoped this could change my mind. It didn’t. However, as with everything, there were some good points to it. It had a fast pace, was light hearted and there was some good banter between the characters. Unfortunately, I didn’t connect with this book and that is why I gave it 3 stars. You can read my review here.

The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert

the hazel wood

I think I expected something a little different when I read the blurb for The Hazel Wood. I expected it to have more parts dedicated to the dark and creepy fairy tales. I wanted more of an atmosphere, but a large part of the plot took place in New York, giving it an urban fantasy feel. I enjoyed the book, but I didn’t connect with the characters or the story they were telling. Overall, this was a 3 star read for me and you can check out all my thoughts here.

Reign of the Fallen by Sarah Glenn Marsh

reign of the fallen

I’ve gone on about this book a few times since I read it, but if you didn’t know already, I loved it. Everything about this book was perfect to me and it had everything I love in a dark, YA Fantasy novel. There was action, love, death, and it covered the tough topic of how to deal with grief and the ways in which it can manifest. I was hooked, sinking deeper into the world and I didn’t want to story to end. All in all, this book was more than deserving of 4.5 stars, and you can read my review here.

Between the Blade and the Heart by Amanda Hocking

between the blade and the heart

The final book I read in February was kind of mediocre in terms of writing, but I still found it enjoyable and fun. This book didn’t take itself too seriously and was set within an urban fantasy world with Norse mythology woven into it. Definitely a unique idea that I’m not used to and actually liked. The characters were okay, there was a bit of romance and quite a lot of action. I know there is a second book, and as I gave the first 3 stars, I want to find out how it will end. Check out my full review here.

page-break

While I mainly stuck to the TBR list I set myself at the beginning of the month, I did deviate a little and there was a couple of books I didn’t get to. 4 in total isn’t too bad, especially as I’ve been ill twice in a month (so not fun) and I’ve been diving into my writing. Plus, February is a shorter month anyway so fingers crossed March allows me to read more amazing books.

What was the best book that you read in February?

Wrapping Up The Week (19th February – 25th February)

I find it so hard to believe that it’s March next week, and yesterday it was one month until my birthday. February has flown by, but I feel that it was a successful month. This week was especially good as I felt like I got a lot done in terms of my writing, as well as trying to become more organised.

The weekend flew by, mainly because I was busy on both days. Saturday morning was spent walking in the park and catching pokemon (there was a dratini event and yes, I caught a shiny one). Afterwards we headed to the most vintage cinema I had ever been to, the Kinema in the Woods.

Not to mention, the tickets were so much cheaper than going to the Odeon in town. You can find out what film I saw in the fun section below. Time to talk about books…

Books I read and reviewed…

between the blade and the heart

Between the Blade and the Heart by Amanda Hocking was an entertaining read, although it wasn’t the best book I’ve read so far this year. All in all, it was fun with some action, a bit of romance (not the greatest though) and I read it pretty quickly. Based on Norse Mythology, but in an urban fantasy setting, this book is definitely unique. You can check out more of my views here.

I am currently reading…

tokillakingdom

While I still haven’t finished reading Zenith (I’m in a bit of a slump with it) I have started reading To Kill A Kingdom by Alexandra Christo, which is all about sirens, pirates, and pretty much everything I love. I can’t even remember the last time I read a book that centred on mermaids and such, so I’m enjoying it so far. Fingers crossed I can finish this one before next weekend and then I can power through Zenith.

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I’m No Longer Interested In Reading

I would have managed to do a post on Wednesday, if only all the bulbs in my room hadn’t decided to blow themselves. So I had to go straight after work to get some and I just ran out of time. Fingers crossed that doesn’t happen next week.

My WIP…

In last weeks wrap up I was on 84,000 words and today I am on 92,000, which just seems incredible to me. I am almost at the end of my book and am writing the final scenes (including my plot twist that I am so excited about). I haven’t managed to write anything today so far as I’ve had a bit of a headache since this afternoon, but I’m hoping to write at least a thousand words if I can.

Other Fun Stuff…

black-panther-film-marvel-actu-news-infos

Finally I got the chance to see Black Panther and it was incredible! Honestly, I think it is now my favourite Marvel film and it was everything I hoped it would be. I loved how technology was fused with African culture, the way they handled the tougher topics and the world building was wonderful. Would probably go and watch it again if I could. Plus, the music was perfect.

Today I also went to Whisby Nature Park with my boyfriend and we spent a couple of hours walking around and enjoying the winter sun. It’s supposed to get extremely cold here in the UK over the next few days so we thought we’d get out while we can.

So, that was my week! Hopefully you all had a great one as well, and managed to do some awesome things.

Wrapping Up The Week (12th February – 18th February)

Once you get past January the weeks just seem to fly by! Already we are over halfway through the month and I am halfway through reading all of my TBR list. I’m back to reading two books at the same time to try and speed things up, so I’m hoping it’s going to work!

This week has been a really good one in terms of work, but unfortunately not so much for my writing at the beginning. For some reason my anxiety was spiking, and while I don’t tend to talk too much about this topic online (I keep it to myself), it did affect my creativity. Luckily for me my attitude and outlook was starting to change and I managed to write nearly 3,000 words this weekend. I also received something that I hope will help me to stay organised and it is….The Happiness Planner! It’s gorgeous (as you can see below) and I can’t wait to get using it this week.

I’ve been a little slow when it comes to reading and I think it’s because I’m taking a while to get into the book I’m currently reading, reasons of which I will mention in the following sections.

Books I read and reviewed…

reign of the fallen

I finally got my review up for Reign of the Fallen, which I read last week, and absolutely adored. I’ve been raving about this book a lot on my blog and it deserves every bit of love it has been receiving from the reading community. You can read my review and check out my thoughts here.

I am currently reading…

Zenith

So, where do I begin? Overall, I’m liking Zenith, even enjoying it in some place, but it’s taken me some time to get into the story. There are flashbacks, different character perspectives, lots of withholding of information and it’s a little slow in places. But there is also some action, humour and likeable characters. I am curious to see where the second half of the book will take me.

between the blade and the heart

I also started Between the Blade and the Heart, which is due to be released on the 22nd of this month so I am trying to read it before then. I’m only 11% of the way through, so I don’t have much of an opinion right now, but I like how different the world is. Fingers crossed I can get a review up by the end of the week.

Posts from the week…

Top Ten Tuesday: Books With Incredible Romances

WWW Wednesday – In A Galaxy…

Again, another quiet week and I think it was definitely to do with the mental health issues I had in the week. But fear not! I am much better and raring to go! Especially because I get to use my new planner.

My WIP…

I am currently at almost 84,000 words and I am SO close to reaching the climax of my book (and my amazing plot twist) that I just cannot wait! Only a few more chapters before I get to the gritty stuff. Honestly, I am so excited to get to the editing stage and I can make the changes that have been running around my head. There’s a few plot holes, but I know how to fix them and that’s all that matters.

Other Fun Stuff…

This weekend my boyfriend and I went into town and visited the new restaurant, The Cosy Club, for brunch. It has a 1930s style, as seen in the photos, and it was amazing. Such a cool and interesting restaurant that features some of the history of Lincoln (the city I live in) and the decor is to die for. I love the mix-matched chairs and the vintage flair. Not to mention, the food was amazing too! Of course I had to go for a fry up.

Afterwards we went to a wildlife park, but that is a story for another blog post. Stay tuned!

I hope that the rest of you had an amazing week and got up to some fun stuff at the weekend! Fingers crossed I will be going to see Black Panther next weekend so if you’ve seen it already let me know in the comments.
