Wrapping Up The Week (23rd April – 29th April)

How is it nearly the end of April already? This month flew by and in the last week I have managed to read so much! In total I finished three books, which is almost unheard of for me, but it really helps when they’re all so good. However, I only managed to write a review for one so you’ll have to keep your eyes peeled for the others within the week.

I’m settled into my new home, enjoying the surroundings and I am finally getting internet on Tuesday. It’s been a pain having to use my data for everything, especially when the service isn’t the best. I’m still waiting to get my sofa (had some issues) but fingers crossed that’ll be here within the next two weeks. I’m just lucky that I have a job which allows me to work from home when I have deliveries and such.

Books I read and reviewed…

the-smoke-thieves

The first book I finished in the week was The Smoke Thieves by Sally Green, although I still haven’t written the review yet. I’m starting to really enjoy books with multiple perspectives and as this one has five I was more than happy. It was great to see how the lives of the five characters differed and how they eventually came together. The idea of demons having smoke released from their bodies after they died was interesting and how it was an illegal trade. Keep an eye out for my full thoughts on the first book in the trilogy later on in the week.

sky in the deep

I flew through Sky in the Deep in less than 48 hours, which is something I don’t tend to do in the working week. It was amazing! The characters were so relatable, the story was full of raw emotion and had me feeling all sorts of things. There was intense action that was written beautifully and I was hooked. You can check out my full review here and see why I gave this debut novel five stars.

nevernight

Yesterday I read about 200 pages to finish Nevernight, staying up past 12, and it was the best use of my time. This book was amazing! It is the first novel I’ve read by Jay Kristoff and, surprise, it wasn’t YA. This is definitely adult fantasy. There is blood, death, torture, tons of swearing and some steamy sex scenes. However, the ideas and characters are so unique that I would recommend this book to any lover of the fantasy genre. Mia Corvere is the most badass character I’ve had the pleasure of reading about and I cannot wait to have Godsgrave in my hands. I just have to wait until the paperback version is released at the end of June (they have to match, okay). Not to mention, there is an incredible plot twist that I did not see coming. Keep your eyes peeled for a review soon.

I am currently reading…

falling kngdoms

I am finally picking up Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes, a book that I have seen many people talk about, as well as Regan from PeruseProject on YouTube. I love that this is the first in a series of six, so I am hoping that I enjoy it. I’ve only read 45 pages so far, but you can be sure that I will be spending the rest of my Sunday curled up in bed reading. I would love to finish this before the 1st of May, but it’s highly unlikely. Although, never say never…

Top Ten Tuesday: My Favourite Covers of Books I Own

WWW Wednesday – Vikings Galore

I managed to get my regular blog posts out into the open, but next week will have a lot more as I get around to wrapping up the month and showing off all the amazing books I read (April was a good month).

My WIP…

I am finally getting back into my editing after writing 1,400 words on Friday and another 1,300 on Saturday. All these new ideas are popping into my head and there are a lot of changes being made, all good ones of course. I’ve made the decision to cut a lot of words (it’s scary how many) but I am introducing new scenes that feature my main characters so we can get a feel for them more.

It’s an exciting time, especially as I am going onto chapter 5, which is where the good stuff starts to happen. I am a long way from being done, but slowly I am getting there. Fingers crossed one day I will be able to share The Lost Heir with you all (it has a title now).

Other Fun Stuff…

Not fun, but necessary. I spent a good part of the weekend hoovering, dusting, doing a deep clean of the bathroom (my arms hurt) and dusting the giant mirror on my built in wardrobes. Although, I would say that it is quite therapeutic and you work up a good sweat, who knew?

bates-motel

My boyfriend and I started Bates Motel (I had only seen season 1 and a bit of 2) and we are really enjoying it. He wasn’t sure at first, but eventually he got into it and we’ve watched three episodes today (I knew he’d get addicted, I have great taste in TV shows). Also, The 100 came back!!! I forgot how much I missed that show and I have a feeling this season is going to be a good one.

Quite the week I would say. I hope you all managed to read some amazing books as well. Which one was your favourite?

Wrapping Up The Week (29th January – 4th February)

I hope everyone has been having a lovely weekend. Lucky for me that my weekend isn’t over just yet as I have tomorrow off due to it being my boyfriend’s birthday. The past seven days seemed to fly by and overall it has been a great week for reading and blogging in general. I am so close to reaching 200 followers now and I find it amazing how many of you love what I write.

So far February has been treating me well and I also started working out again (even though I’ll probably be very sore tomorrow). This year is all about doing things that make me happy and my stress/anxiety levels are so low they are almost nonexistent. I think a lot of that has to do with finding my love of reading, writing and blogging again. A couple years ago I lost that part of me and I am so glad to have it back.

Anyway, time to talk about books…

Books I read and reviewed…

26032825

In the beginning of the week I finished The Cruel Prince by Holly Black and I loved it! There’s been so much love for this book and I can finally understand why. It was dark, dangerous and everything a book about the Fae should be. If you need another reason to check it out you should head on over and read my review here. While it wasn’t a straight up 5 star read (I gave it four and a half) I still enjoyed this book thoroughly.

keeper of the watch

For the first time in a while I managed to read a second book in the week! While I didn’t enjoy The Keeper of the Watch as much (and there are many reasons as to why) I still read it quite quickly and enjoyed the action. It is more of a Sci-Fi book, something I said I would read more of this year, but it wasn’t really my cup of tea. Overall, I gave the book 3 stars and you can check out my review here.

I am currently reading…

the hazel wood

I wasn’t sure if I would be able to read The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert before it’s release date on the 8th, but I was approved on NetGalley at the last minute. So far I have read 30% and I am really enjoying it. There have been a lot of questions raised about the characters backstories. I want to know more and cannot wait to get stuck into it later on. If I could get over halfway by the end of today then that would be great!

Wrapping Up January ’18 – AKA The Longest Month Ever

January Book Haul (I think I bought too many)

My February TBR Pile

Four blog posts in one week is not bad at all! Unfortunately, I missed the Top Ten Tuesday this week as I wasn’t really feeling the topic, but hopefully next week will be different. I love looking back over the month when writing the monthly wrap ups and seeing how much I read (and spent).

My WIP…

For the first time ever I have succeeded in writing at least 1,000 words everyday for the whole week, including the weekends! Actually, yesterday I wrote 1,400 putting my total at 75,000 words. While I haven’t written anything today (yet) I will be putting fingers to keys straight after this blog post. I am so excited because I am getting close to the point where I can introduce my big plot twist and I cannot wait!

Other Fun Stuff…

Why does my whole life revolve around work, writing, reading and blogging? I can’t even say that watching Riverdale every week is fun because I’m not sure I’m enjoying it anymore. Season 1 was so much better and I swear the characters weren’t as annoying (anyone else unable to stand Veronica and Archie?) I’m just looking forward to The 100 and The Originals coming back in April. If only it wasn’t so far away.

I am definitely ready to conquer the rest of February and I hope you all are as well! Let me know in the comments how your week went.

TV Shows I am Loving Right Now

October is my favourite month. Not just because I love the Autumn weather, but also because all my favourite TV shows start up again (and who doesn’t love a good binge?) So I thought I would share with you all the ones I have been loving the most recently.

The Originals

the mikaelsons

While I am still sad that The Vampire Diaries will never grace my TV screen again, I am glad that we still have one more season of The Originals to see (I’ll be sad when that one ends too, but at least I can prepare for it). I have recently been catching up on season 4 on Netflix before season 5 starts sometimes in 2018, but I will be finished before then.

I have loved this family and all the drama they bring with them since their introduction on The Vampire Diaries. Even when we were supposed to hate then, we still secretly liked them and their charm. It is hard to decide who is my favourite. My mum thinks Klaus is amazing, with his witty words and troubled past making us feel for him. I, however, prefer Elijah, with his dashing suits and charming demeanour. Then there is Rebekah, the sassiest of them all (and whose outfits I am jealous of).

There is something for everyone to love in this show. You are guaranteed gruelling deaths, romance, a lot of fighting and you may even shed some tears along the way. But most of all, once you start watching, you will be hooked.

Lucifer

I cannot even begin to describe how much I enjoy watching this show. Lucifer is definitely my guilty pleasure and never fails to keep me laughing along with the witty jokes and comments. The show revolves around the devil himself as he lives a lavish lifestyle in LA, away from the doom and gloom of hell. There he meets a detective, Chloe, and helps her to solve crimes and punish those that do wrong.

At first I didn’t know what to expect, but now we are on the third season and it only gets better. This show will reinvent how you think the devil looks and acts, and it also boasts a whole host of other characters that are just as amazing. The person who created this show has done an amazing job at taking an idea and making it so original. Don’t believe me, check it out for yourself!

Riverdale

riverdale-gang-classic-237389-625x352

Thank you Netflix for having this show so that I am able to watch it here in the UK. I was a little late starting this when it aired. Half of the show had already been uploaded at the time, which just made it easier for me to binge watch and I did just that. I was hooked straight away. I love a good mystery and Riverdale offered just that, along with a ton of teenage drama that I can’t get enough of.

It is based off of the Archie comics, which just so happens to also include Sabrina The Teenage Witch (who didn’t watch that when they were growing up?) I may have never read the comics, but I am a big fan of this show and all that it offers. Riverdale is dark, twisted and makes you question a lot of peoples’ motives. There is a lot more than meets the eye here and I can’t wait to find out where season 2 takes us.

What TV shows are you loving right now? I would love to know if there’s any I’m missing out on.
