Wrapping Up The Week (12th March – 18th March)

It’s been one of those weeks where it was very tiring and I needed a couple days of doing nothing towards the end of the week. I was hoping to have finished 3 books this week but instead it was only 2. I’m still happy about that though. With my birthday weekend coming up and the Easter bank holidays I am sure I’ll be getting a lot of reading done.

As you all probably know, I finished writing my novel a couple of weeks ago but I haven’t begun the editing process yet. I still have it running around in my head, thinking of new ways to change the story, to make it better. I might also be putting it off because it’s such a big task and I’m not really sure where to begin. Maybe a little research on the art of editing is in order.

Books I read and reviewed…

tokillakingdom

Even though I finished To Kill A Kingdom last week, I finally got the review up and submitted it to NetGalley as well. It was such a great read and very enjoyable, with fleshed out characters and a lot of action as well. If you’re a fan of pirates and sirens, you definitely have to check out this imaginative spin on the tale. You can check out my full review here.

I want to say that this is the best book I have read so far this year. Words can’t even describe how much I loved this collection of deliciously dark tales. I can’t even believe that I managed to read it all in less than 24 hours. It’s pretty much unheard of now thanks to all the responsibilities of adult life. shadow and bone

Once finishing The Language of Thorns I decided to move on to the Grishaverse trilogy because of how much I fell in love with the world that the fairy tales were set in. While Shadow and Bone started off a little slowly, it was very intriguing and a great introduction to this magical world. I cannot wait until I get to read the Six of Crows duology later on. I am currently reading…

siege and storm

After the ending of the first book I just had to buy the second one! I am about a third of the way through so far and it’s started off great with some action and betrayal. I am hoping that I enjoy it as much as the first, if not more, but hopefully I can finish it by Wednesday and have a review up as well.

Posts from the week…

Top Ten Tuesday: Books That Took Me Completely By Surprise

WWW Wednesday – Goodbye Reading Slump

Managing to write two blog posts as well as three reviews counts as a good week for me so I’m happy. I’m getting back into the swing of things and have a couple of ideas planned. I might start a weekly feature to talk about my writing and as it is my birthday on the 24th I will be doing a birthday blog post (and possibly show off the books I get).

My WIP…

Like I said earlier, I have taken a break from the novel that I need to edit. However…I may have had an idea for another novel…And I might have already created a Pinterest board. This always seems to happen to me when I am about to edit. Something new and shiny comes along, but this time I want to write it as well as editing my previous work. Hopefully it can offer a nice, creative break from the editing which will probably feel torturous. Also, stay tuned for a book aesthetic for the new novel idea in the upcoming week. I can’t wait to share it!

Other Fun Stuff…

The_Lord_of_the_Rings_Characters

This week my boyfriend and I marathoned The Lord of the Rings trilogy and it was amazing to watch them again. It must have been years since I last saw them and I was reminded why they are one of my favourite film series ever. We watched the first two Saturday night and the last one today before football was on. We enjoyed some tasty popcorn and chocolate, and I have no regrets about the amount of calories consumed.

And that was my week in a nutshell! I hope you all had a great one as well. Let me know what your favourite book of the week was in the comments below!

Top Ten Tuesday: Books With Incredible Romances

TTT-Big2

Top Ten Tuesday was originally hosted over at The Broke and The Bookish and is now over at Jana’s blog, That Artsy Reader Girl.

Tomorrow is Valentines day and you know what that means…It’s the Top Ten Tuesday Love Freebie. We have free reign when it comes to choosing the topic and I decided to go with the top ten books that had incredible romances that I remember to this day.

Stay tuned for a little sneak peak of something at the end…

1. Rose and Dimitri from Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

rose and dimitri

I loved the Vampire Academy series and I think a lot of it had to do with the relationship between Rose and Dimitri. I wanted my own Dimitri when I have finished the series. Their scenes were so intense, romantic and they would do anything for each other.

2. Celaena and Chaol from Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

celaena and chaol

While I have only read three books so far in the series, I am rooting for Celaena and Chaol. I have a feeling they won’t end up together, but I have really enjoyed their interactions and the romantic scenes they had together.

3. Zoey and Stark from House of Night by P. C. Cast

house of night zoey

While I couldn’t find any fan art of Zoey and Stark, I loved them together. I stopped reading after the 8th or 9th book and I remember wishing that they would end up together. This series was full of romance and it was incredible for a 15 year old me.

4. Tris and Four from Divergent by Veronica Roth

tris and four

I read the books way before the films came out and honestly, this couple was one of my favourites and they were well portrayed on the big screen. I would say they were almost how I imaged them, but I can’t remember exactly.

5. Clary and Jace from The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare

clary and jace

This fan art is exactly how I depicted Clary and Jace, because I don’t like either of the actors who have portrayed Jace. I guess they will never match the image I conjured up when I was a teenager.

6. Elena and Stefan from The Vampire Diaries by L. J. Smith

Again, a series I read before it was turned into a TV show, and I am always going to say that Elena should have ended up with Stefan. While I never finished reading the series, I loved their relationship in both the books and the TV show.

7. Bella and Edward from Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

How can I not mention them on this list. 13 year old me lived for this relationship and the book series. The book that got me into YA and the relationship that started it all.

8. Nora and Path from Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

nora and patch

The nostalgia is kicking in because I read Hush Hush years ago, but I will never forget the crush that I had on Patch. Who doesn’t love bad boys that are actually angels?

9. Lina and Hades from Goddess of Spring by P. C. Cast

Goddess-of-Spring

One of the first adult novels that I read (I loved all the books in this mythology series) and this romance stood out to me the most. It was so different to what I normally read and I may even revisit it one day to see if I enjoy it as much.

10. Raegan and Malakai from My Secret WIP

Surprise! I thought I would add my own characters in to this top ten, because why not? These are the best images that portray the look I have in mind for Raegan and Kai. I won’t give too much of the plot away, but this is a slow burning romance, not everything happens at once, but there is a ton of chemistry between these two characters, as you can see from the few lines I’ve plucked out below.

“Then their lips touched, and a fire sparked to life. At first it was slow, their lips touching tenderly and moving slowly. It was exactly how Raegan had imagined it would be, the softness of them, the plumpness. Her nerves went crazy. Then the fire burned brighter, causing her breath to catch and she opened her lips, inviting him in. It was all the encouragement he needed.”

I won’t give away any more than that. There are probably a few things I would change, but that is for the editing process.
