Wrapping Up November & Getting Excited For Christmas!

We can officially get excited for Christmas now!

I have no idea where the last four weeks went, how is it the last month of 2017 already?! It seems that I filled my November with so many different activities that I didn’t notice it passing by at all. Not only was I searching for a new job (which I will be starting next month), my dad also came to visit and I decided to really knuckle down with my writing efforts.

While I didn’t take part of NaNoWriMo, I was writing throughout the whole month and the last week or so is when I really started churning out my novel at a rapid pace. I started the month with rewriting my first 15,000 words, as it was in first person POV and I wanted it to be third person (btw, so glad I made the change) and at this moment I am nearing 33,000 words. I am very happy with that and worked out that I am about a third of the way through writing (I have an ending in mind, it’s just filling in the gaps). So November has been a very successful month.

I also went ahead and deleted my old twitter account to set up a new one, which you can find here. It would be great if I could connect with more people, especially on different platforms. Also, I reached over 100 followers on my blog in less than two months which is great. While the numbers don’t matter too much, it is great to see that people enjoy what I am putting out there into the world.

Unfortunately, I haven’t done a lot of reading this month (but I am currently reading two books that should have reviews up next week if I’m lucky). So, here are the books I reviewed this November.

Books I Read…

Throne Of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

Throne of Glass

It was so easy to give this book 5 stars after I read it. I cannot believe it took me so long to pick up this series and now I am waiting on the second one to be delivered to me. You can check out my review here.

A Darker Shade Of Magic by V. E. Schwab

A Darker Shade Of Magic

Again, another series I had heard so much about and finally picked up. Once again, I gave a book five stars because this was a perfect read and made me fall even more in love with the fantasy genre. If you want to read my thoughts, you can see my review here.

Like I said, I didn’t read a lot this month and if I hadn’t hit a reading slump I’m sure I could have managed more (or at least finished Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard). Sometimes life gets in the way and I’m learning to accept that it’s okay. I’m just glad that I haven’t had a writer’s block on my novel in a while (I hope I haven’t jinxed myself).

Now that the holidays are coming up (and I’m away at the end of December in Ireland) I should have some more time to get reading when work finishes for the year.

How has your month been? Let me know in the comments below!

Wrapping Up The Week (30th Oct – 5th Nov)

It’s been a relatively quiet week, we didn’t even have any trick or treater’s to the house on Halloween (so we kept the sweets for ourselves). Another reason that I didn’t do a lot is that my dad is coming over from Ireland on Friday to see us for the weekend, which I am definitely looking forward to. I haven’t seen him since he came over in summer so it will be good.

Christmas decorations are up in the shops, I’ve bought my Christmas scented candles (Gingerbread and Magical Christmas Tree which both smell incredible) and I am looking forward to getting the tree out!ย It’s hard to believe that in less than two months 2017 will be over. While I haven’t completed all the resolutions I set myself way back in January, I am feeling pretty good and already looking forward to next year.

Books I read and reviewed..

Throne of Glass

I only managed to read one book last week (my own writing is taking up more of my time at the moment) and that book was Throne of Glass and you can check out my review here. I cannot wait to buy the rest of the series and get stuck into it!

I am currently reading…

A Darker Shade Of Magic

After starting this book last night, I can honestly say that A Darker Shade Of Magic has me hooked and I am so intrigued by Kell and the multiple worlds. I have a feeling I will be finishing this one soon so expect a review before the week is over.

October Book Haul & November TBR

The Genres I Tend To Stay Away From

First Lines Fridays #2

Somehow I managed to post near enough every day, which is the first time I have done so since I started this blog at the beginning of October. And I managed to reach over 50 followers in the first month which is great. I am loving writing for my blog and talking to other bloggers, and I feel that writing everyday is helping to push me with my own novel.

Other Fun Stuff…

I watch a lot of YouTube and I’m a fan of Sasha Alsberg (fun fact, we both share the same birthday, I’m just a year older) and she uploaded a video where she visited Scotland to see where Outlander was filmed. So this week I also started watching Outlander and I have to stay that I am enjoying it and can’t wait to watch more of it.

That’s all for this week! Let me know what you have all been up to as well.

October Book Haul & November TBR

October was extremely quiet on the book-buying front with only one addition to my shelves. I am trying not to buy many books in the lead up to Christmas. One reason being that I have a lot that I want to read which I’ve already bought (don’t want to get ahead of myself). The second reason is that I know people will be wanting to buy me stuff and it’s easier to give them a list of books that I want and let them choose what one to get. Can you imagine how big the December book haul will be? I can’t wait!

So, getting onto the one lonely book that my boyfriend kindly bought for me. I got One Dark Throne knowing that I would be reading Three Dark Crowns relatively quickly last month. You can find my reviews for both here and here.

Like I said, there are a lot of books that I still want to read before I got out and buy anymore. The month of November will be filled with starting new series and they are all ones that I have been dying to read, but for some reason never got around to. They are the following…

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab

Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard (Red Queen #2)

Talon by Julie Kagawa

I already know that some of you will be asking why I haven’t read any of Sarah J. Maas’ books and honestly, I don’t have a good enough answer. This book has been sat on my shelf since 2012/13 and I don’t know why I haven’t picked it up yet. I’ve been hearing so many people raving about it, especially the newer ones, so you can be guaranteed that I will buy more from this series in November.

What books are you planning on reading this month?
