Award: Sunshine Blogger Award

sunshine blogger award

It is crazy to think that me and my little blog are being nominated for The Sunshine Blogger Award by the lovely Rachael at Beach Bookworm. Thank you so much for this!

I still can’t believe that I have nearly 300 followers now and there are so many people who care about what I think. Believe me, it is the best feeling when someone says that my review or thoughts on a book have made them check it out. That’s all I ever want to do with this blog, to spread the book love.

1. Thank the blogger who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blog.
2. Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you.
3. Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
4. List the rules and display the sunshine blogger award logo in your post/or on your blog.

Rachael’s questions for me are…

1. What’s your favourite thing about blogging?

I think I kind of answered this question above, but I love how my views on a book can make someone give a book a try for the first time, and sometimes even for a second time. It is great talking with like-minded people and making friends through our love of books.

2. Have you met a fellow blogger face to face?

No, I haven’t but I would love to! It seems that most people live in the US, while I am over here living in the UK, in a place that isn’t London.

3. What is your favourite TV show?

Hmm, this is a tough one. Are we asking about my all time favourite, or my current favourite? My all time favourite TV show is The Vampire Diaries. That show was everything to me and I can’t tell you how much I cried at the finale (spoiler, it was a lot) and it will always hold a special place in my heart. My current favourite though is The 100, because that show is so damn good!

4. What is your biggest fear?

I have a weird fear of ladders/step ladders. I’m okay with heights now because I’ve been on roller coasters and up high buildings, but I refuse to go up ladders. I can’t do it.

5. Do you have any pets?

I personally don’t have any because my landlord won’t allow it, but my mum has a staffie called Willow, who is just the cutest. (There she is, in all her glory and her creepy, glossy eyes)

6. How many books have you read, so far, this year?

I just finished my 25th book last night, which I am pretty happy with. I set myself a goal of 50, so to be halfway when the fifth month of the year isn’t even over yet is pretty good. I was just talking to my dad about it and he was shocked at the amount. The crazy thing is, I know of people online who have read so much more!

7. Tea or coffee?

Coffee, all the way! I feel like I’m the only English person who hates tea. Nasty stuff *pulls a face*.

8. Where is your favourite reading spot?

My bed, just because it’s cosy and relaxing. Although sometimes I get too comfortable and fall asleep, which always ruins my reading time.

9. How happy are you today on a sale of 1 to 10?

I would say that I am a 9, mainly because I am working from home tomorrow and its a long weekend here in the UK thanks to a bank holiday on Monday. And I have my new sofa arriving on Saturday (so many good things).

10. Which era do you wish you could visit?

Ooh, this is hard! There are so many that would be interesting, but I think the 20s would have been a fun time, just to visit. Not so much if I were to live there. I think I would have to be rich in that case and get invited to all the parties.

11. Favourite quote?

I don’t think I have a favourite quote when I think about it. I’ve been sat thinking about it for a good few minutes and still can’t come up with one.

And those are my answers! I am going to nominate the following bloggers:

Beth @ Reading Every Night

My questions to you are…

1. What is your favourite hobby, besides reading?

2. If you could choose one book series to read for the rest of your life, what would it be?

3. Cats or dogs?

4. What is your biggest dream?

5. What book are you most anticipating in the second half of the year?

6. Are you a reader or a writer? Or both?

7. Have you ever not finished a book?

8. Describe your ideal holiday.

9. What genre do you like the least?

10. If you could live on any place on Earth, where would it be?

11. What is your biggest pet peeve when it comes to books?

You are all great bloggers and I think everyone should check them out! If you choose to take part, I hope you enjoy answering my questions.

Being Nominated For The Liebster Award

liebster award

This is the second time I have been nominated for an award and I was so surprised when this came through. Thank you to Larissa over at Book Bosomed Blonde for putting me forward. She has a great blog, so you should definitely check that out. She came up with some great questions that I can’t wait to answer below.

1. Story behind your blog name?

Believe it or not, it took me ages to come up with a good blog name. I wanted something that summed me up perfectly and I had a list of about 30 names. Daydreaming Roux was born from my love of daydreaming (obviously) because I would always be that person gazing out of the window or thinking about something other than the task at hand. It is also derived from my love of France, a country I have been to many times, and that is where Roux came from. The french word for redhead.

2. What is one of your favourite blogs? Share the love!

I love reading blog posts from The Well-Thumbed Reader. They are always so entertaining, funny (I literally laugh out loud) and I always find myself reading her blog when it pops up on my notifications. If you haven’t followed her already, you definitely need to.

3. Would you like to become an author, if so what genre would you write about?

I’ve only wanted to become an author since I was 14/15 years old (I’m now 21)! In that time I have written and completed 3 novels (although I never edited them) and they were Paranormal YA. However, I am now working on my latest WIP which is Fantasy with a MC that is 21, almost 22, so I’m not sure if it’s YA or New Adult yet. I tend to write what I’m reading and at the moment it’s all about Fantasy.

4. A book you’re most excited to FINALLY get to this year.

I finally have the Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo and I can’t wait to dig into it! I hear everyone raving about the series and how much they love it, so I can only hope that I will as well.

5. If you could choose one book being released in 2018 to get for free, what would it be?

That’s a tough one because there are so many incredible books coming out this year! I would say the one I am most excited about is Furyborn by Claire Legrand. It sounds as if it is going to be an incredible, dark YA Fantasy and if I could have it for free then that would be lovely.

6. What book world would you most like to be transported to?

Ugh, this is a tough one. There are so many amazing worlds, especially in some of my most recent reads. I think that I would really like to visit the world of A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab. I think being able to travel between multiple worlds and discover them would be incredible, if not a little dangerous (we like a bit of danger).

7. Favourite female character?

Again, another tough question, but one I think has an easy answer because she is from the most recent series I am reading and it is none other than Celaena Sardothien. Let’s face it, she’s a badass, incredibly skilled and witty. She can stand on her own two feet and what more could you want than that? She is also extremely likeable and I connected with her instantly.

8. Favourite male character?

I really had to think about this one because I haven’t read many novels lately where the male character stands out to me. I would love to say one of the characters I’ve written into my own novel, but I can’t do that. Instead, I am going to settle on Kell from A Darker Shade of Magic. He had a great voice, was mysterious and his interactions with Lila were what sold it for me.

9. Short term goal for the year?

I think my short term goal will be to finish my novel and with 65,000 words currently, I’m sure I’ll be finished before half of the year goes by. Then it’s onto editing and we all know how difficult that can be.

10. Long term goal?

I don’t find it easy to think of long term goals as I’m one of these people who kind of wing it and only plan a few months in advance. I would like to have saved more money this year, so I guess that counts as long term. I’ll have to review this when we reach the end of December.

11. One weird thing about you.

I would like to say that I’m not weird, but I’m sure my family would disagree. I suppose I have some weird habits when it comes to food, for example I have to eat the crust of a pizza slice before the cheesy parts (save the best til last) and I like putting my curry and rice inside the naan bread so it makes a sandwich. I suppose those are slightly weird things.

I am choosing to nominate:

3. Who is your all time favourite main character?

4. Which do you prefer: sweet or savoury?

5. Who was your first book crush?

6. Which book world would you choose to live in forever?

7. If you could choose 3 book characters to be your best friends, who would they be?

8. Apart from reading, what else do you love to do?

9. Who is your favourite author and why?

Being Nominated For The Sunshine Blogger Award

When I came on to check out some notifications I never expected to find that I would be nominated for The Sunshine Blogger Award by the lovely Rachael @ Beach Bookworm! Thank you so much for this, it means the world to me that you love my blog. If you haven’t checked out her blog then you definitely should and her instagram page is gorgeous!

So you’re probably wonder what The Sunshine Blogger Award is.

The Sunshine Blogger Award is given to those who are creative, positive, and inspiring, while spreading sunshine to the blogging community. Pretty simple and it’s a great way to tell people how much you love their blog.

It works like this…

  • Thank the blogger(s) who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blog.
  • Answer the 11 questions sent by the person who nominated you.
  • Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or on your blog.

Here are the questions that Rachael has given me…

1. Paperbacks, hardbacks, eBooks or audio books?

Hardbacks all the way! I just love how amazing they look on my shelf and how you never have to break the spine with them so they always look in pristine condition. If I could afford to buy hardbacks all the time, trust me I would.

2. Do you prefer buying your books online or in a store?

If we’re talking about saving money then definitely online. You can find some amazing offers on sites like the Book Depository. I’m pretty much on there all the time checking out which of the books on my long list is having some money knocked off of it.

3. Are you enjoying your current read?

I am currently read Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard (Red Queen #2) and so far it is going well. They are by no means my favourite series, but I’m looking forward to seeing where the story goes.

4. Most anticipated book of 2018?

On instagram I follow both Sasha Alsberg and Lindsay Cummings, so I am looking forward to reading Zenith when it comes out at the end of January. I haven’t read many sci-fi books so I am intrigued to check this one out. As for the rest of the year I’m not sure yet. I’ve only recently got back into the reading and blogging game so I have a lot to catch up on.

5. Are you part of a book club?

Unfortunately I am not, but I have always wanted to be. If anyone knows of any that would be great give them a mention in the comments below!

6. Favourite TV show?

Hands down, my favourite show I’ve ever watched is The Vampire Diaries. I feel like so many people will answer with this show, but it was so addictive. I started watching it when I was 14 years old, so I basically grew up with it and loved all the characters. I still can’t speak about the ending of the show, it’s too bittersweet and as I am re-watching it on Netflix at the moment, I am dreading watching season 8.

7. Most books you ever read in a month?

I remember one summer when I was still in school I would read a book within two days, sometimes in one day! So if we’re going by that number it would be close to maybe 14-16. Of course, back then I didn’t have to work to pay the bills and could stay up for hours. I’m lucky if I make it past midnight on a weekend!

8. Most read author?

My answer to this has got to be P. C. Cast. I was first introduced to her through the House Of Night series which I absolutely loved when I was a teenager (however, I stopped reading after book 9, Destined). I couldn’t get enough of it and from there I picked up and read all of the Partholon series and Goddess Summoning series, which are all adult novels and based off of mythology (something I have always loved).

9. First book on your wishlist?

I can’t name one book for this answer because I want to read the rest of the series, so all the books after Throne Of Glass by Sarah J. Mass. I will be buying the next two as soon as I can.

10. Favourite movie?

Again, I have to name a trilogy that I adore and it is the Dark Knight Trilogy. Batman has always been my favourite superhero (although I’m not a fan of Ben Affleck’s Batman that much). Out of all three movies, the best for me is The Dark Knight. Who could forget Heath Ledger’s portrayal of The Joker?

11. What book should everyone read?

This is a very tough question! I have so many books that have stood out for me, but if I had to choose one series it would be The Vampire Academy. Those books blew me away when I read them and will always hold a special place in my heart. I need to re-read them one day soon, maybe next year if I can. They are fun, dark, full of danger and action and a beautiful love story.

Now it’s time for my nominees!
