WWW Wednesday – Cliffhangers!

It’s the peak of the week, as my manager at work likes to call it. It’s been a great week so far, not that anything incredible has happened, I’m just very happy. It helps that there are only two days left of work and then I have a weekend of reading and writing ahead of me.

Speaking of my writing, I hit 8,000 words of my dragon WIP today after writing 1.5K at lunch and I am loving it! The characters are perfect to me and they seem so real when I’m writing them, which makes me realise I’m doing something right. I might even do a bit more tonight if I have time before Love Island (which I shouldn’t be watching but I can’t help it – it’s addictive).

crystal storm

I know I said in my last weekly wrap up that I would read Thunderhead by Neal Shusterman next, but with a cliffhanger like the one Frozen tides gave me, how could I not pick up Crystal Storm? Already I am a third of the way through and I am loving it. More characters are being added into the fray and it seems like everyone’s paths are about to cross once more. I am so glad with the way Magnus is acting in this book, it makes my heart happy. Fingers crossed I can finish this before the week is up!

frozen tides

That ending! This book! There was so much treachery, I loved it. I swear this series just gets better and better, with so much political manoeuvring that it’s hard to keep up. There were some unlikely alliances, and romances that I was happy to finally see come to life. I am pretty sure that Falling Kingdoms has solidified itself as one of my favourite series ever at this point! Keep an eye out for the review, which I will probably be writing tomorrow.

What Do You Think You’ll Read Next?

thunderhead

I think I am going to be spending my weekend dedicated to this book. Thunderhead has me so excited, especially with the way that Scythe ended. I won’t lie, my expectations are high for this, just because of how much I loved the first one. I highly doubt that it will disappoint. Not to mention, the covers for these books are so pleasing. I just love the design and the colours…Amazing! I can’t wait to see what colour the third will be. I’m kind of hoping it’s either dark blue or purple.

There we have it! My plans for the rest of the week are pretty much sorted at this point.

WWW Wednesday – Shocking Twists

WWW Wednesday was originally hosted by A Daily Rhythm, and was taken over by Taking on a World of Words.

Halfway through the week already! I was supposed to upload a Top Ten post yesterday but my laptop had to do an update and was stuck doing it for TWO HOURS! It was so infuriating and by the time it was done it was too late. Anyway, it’s done now and hopefully it doesn’t need an update for a while.

The title of this blog post is to do with the book I recently finished reading, because oh wow, did it have a great twist and ending.

What Are You Currently Reading?

frozen tides

Diving back into my new favourite series! I only started this late last night, so I’m currently just over 50 pages in and already I’m happy to be reading about these characters again. It picks up right after Gathering Darkness, which had a crazy ending, and I’m excited to see what’s going to happen. I still can’t help beginning to like Magnus, even if he’s a bit of a ass sometimes. Here’s hoping he finally turns good in this one!

What Did You Recently Finish Reading?

empire of storms

Oh my, this book got so good towards the end, and the plot twists! I was a little worried in the middle because it was dragging, but then so much happened. Everything fitted into place, there were some crazy revelations that had me reading with my mouth open in shock, and you could see the links between the books, all the way back to the first. I didn’t see it coming, and then there were the battle scenes that were done perfectly. Manon is still one of my favourites and I absolutely loved her story arc in this book. I cannot wait to write my review, which will probably be tomorrow.

What Do You Think You’ll Read Next?

thunderhead

It’s too hard to choose! If Frozen Tides ends on a cliff-hanger then I may need to read Crystal Storm. If I can hold off, then I will be reading Thunderhead, the sequel to Scythe. I cannot wait to get back into this story and world, mainly to see what will happen to the characters after the ending of the first book. I absolutely loved the first one, so I’m hoping that this is just as good.

It’s been a good week of reading so far and if I could finish reading Frozen Tides before the end of Friday, I’ll be more than happy.

WWW Wednesday – Finishing Off a Trilogy

WWW Wednesday was originally hosted by A Daily Rhythm, and was taken over by Taking on a World of Words.

Today was my first day back at work after a very long weekend and already I am wishing it was Friday, mainly so I can get back to reading more amazing books. The good news is that I am on track to finishing my 7th book of the month, which means I have a new record set!

I also get to finish off a Trilogy that I have been loving and it means I can finally move onto another series that I always hear everyone talking about…Six of Crows.

What Are You Currently Reading?

ruin and rising

That’s right, I am onto the third and final book in the Grishaverse, Ruin and Rising. I’m already halfway through and I haven’t even read any tonight. It has started off great and thrown me right back into the world with all the characters I love. I am so happy that Nikolai is back in it because he is my favourite character and never fails to make me smile. I’m intrigued to find out what will happen with the Darkling and if Alina will find the third amplifier. All I know is that I am excited to see the ending and then move onto the Six of Crows series (which we have just found out will have a third book added to it).

What Did You Recently Finish Reading?

ace of shades

I haven’t written my review for Ace of Shades yet (I’m hoping to do it tomorrow) but I really enjoyed the first book in what will be a trilogy. I loved the fast paced writing, the characters and the world of New Reynes. Very similar to Las Vegas, New Reynes is run by gangs and two rival families that own casinos. It is dark and dangerous, with a lot of mystery. I loved the magical element in the story, something I will talk about in my review, but I am excited for the second book, which will be out next year.

What Do You Think You’ll Read Next?

empire of storms

As soon as Ace of Shades came through on NetGalley I put Empire of Storms to the side (and there it has stayed while I finish Ruin and Rising). However, I will be picking it back up soon after because I need to know what will happen in the story. I am almost a third of the way through and things have started to get very interesting, especially where Manon is concerned. I will probably be reading Tower of Dawn soon after, ready for the final book later on this year.

And there are the books I am currently loving! It’s been a great week for reading so far, and I hope it continues.

WWW Wednesday – Finally Reading Sci-Fi

WWW Wednesday was originally hosted by A Daily Rhythm, and was taken over by Taking on a World of Words.

No, you didn’t mis-read the title of this blog. I, the lover of Fantasy, finally found a sci-fi book that I absolutely love. I never thought it would happen because up until now the sci-fi books I’ve read haven’t captured my attention. Turns out I was just waiting for the right one.

This week has been flying by and it’s probably to do with the fact that we have a long weekend coming up in the UK thanks to a bank holiday next Monday. I also have next Tuesday off from work, so I plan on getting a lot of reading done. Can I finish two books in one long weekend? We shall see.

What Are You Currently Reading?

scythe

This book is amazing! I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started it. I had heard some great things about it, but it has completely blown me away. Scythe is such a unique story and the world is so similar, and still so different. It is set in the future when all the world’s problems have been solved. There is no more death, hunger, poverty. Humans have achieved immortality, and the only way for their life to end is for it to be gleaned by a Scythe. The characters are all individual and we get to see what the Scythes are like and how, underneath it all, there is corruption growing. I’m over 80% of the way through this and I am hoping I can finish it tonight.

What Did You Recently Finish Reading?

gathering darkness

I can’t tell you how sad I was that I didn’t have the fourth book when I finished Gathering Darkness. I’m obsessed with this series, the world and its characters (most of them). Things are starting to come together and plots are unfolding. There is so much treachery and I am here for it. I cannot wait to get my hands on the rest of the series, which I will probably binge read in the near future. You can check out my review here.

What Do You Think You’ll Read Next?

empire of storms

So far this month I have been really good and stuck to the TBR that I set for myself at the beginning of the month. Following on from Scythe I am probably going to be reading the fifth instalment of the Throne of Glass series, Empire of Storms. I have some catching up to do before the final book in the series comes out later on this year. After the events of the last book, I am excited to see what will come next for our characters. Once again, it is a humongous book and I think it’s going to take me a while to read. Wish me luck!

I am looking forward to the rest of the month and hope that I can squeeze in another two books.

WWW Wednesday – My New Favourite Series

WWW Wednesday was originally hosted by A Daily Rhythm, and was taken over by Taking on a World of Words.

This post is a little late as I was out walking around my village (I’m trying to get back into exercising regularly) but I am so excited about the books I’ve been reading at the moment. I am pretty sure that I have a new favourite series right now and I am wishing I had picked it up sooner.

Also, as well as doing a lot of reading, I am back editing! In the last two days I have written nearly 3,000 words on my second draft and I am pushing past the doubts that I won’t be able to work my way through the novel. It was so daunting looking at all the words and trying to wrap my head around all the things I have to change, but I figured it would be best to just dive into it. It’s working out pretty well.

What Are You Currently Reading?

gathering darkness

This series is everything! The books just keep getting better as I go along and I am genuinely sad that I won’t be able to buy the next three until I get paid at the end of the month. I am 70% of the way through Gathering Darkness and it is so good! The plot keeps thickening and the plot twists just keep coming at me. I am obsessed with the characters and love how there are so many perspectives to tell the story from. I can’t wait to see how this instalment ends.

What Did You Recently Finish Reading?

rebel spring

Like I said, I’m obsessed with the series and as soon as I finished Rebel Spring I knew I had to read the next one. I still have to write my review as I’m a little bit behind but I can’t wait to let you all know what I thought of it. The stakes are so high with this series and you never know what is going to happen next, which is my favourite part of the story.

What Do You Think You’ll Read Next?

scythe

As I don’t have Frozen Tides yet, I figured it would be best to pick up Scythe considering how many good things I’ve heard about it. I am praying that I really enjoy it because I know it’s sci-fi and that isn’t my favourite genre, but I’m giving it a go. Plus, the synopsis sounded incredible and such a unique idea, and I love the cover too.

That’s a pretty good set of books, but I know that if I had the rest of the Falling Kingdoms series then I would be binge reading them.

WWW Wednesday – So Much Fantasy

WWW Wednesday was originally hosted by A Daily Rhythm, and was taken over by Taking on a World of Words.

Lately I have been reading some incredible books and I am loving it. Considering how many books I have on my shelf that I haven’t read yet, it feels good to be finally getting around to reading them. Although it doesn’t help reading the first book in a series, realising that I love it and then having to buy the rest. My wallet is very hurt at the moment.

What Are You Currently Reading?

rebel spring

I am finally reading the second book in the Falling Kingdoms series, Rebel Spring. Already I am over halfway through and I only started it the other day. There is something about the world and the characters that makes me want to know more and I find it so easy to connect with them. I can’t get enough of their stories and how they are becoming intertwined. As more things are revealed, I can just tell that I am going to fall even more in love with this series. I’m hoping to finish it tomorrow night if possible.

What Did You Recently Finish Reading?

queen of shadows

This was one hell of a book, and a pretty big one at that. Sometimes I find it daunting to read massive books, mainly because I’m worried that there could be parts that are boring. Turns out I had nothing to worry about with Queen of Shadows because it was amazing. The plot twists! This book took so many unexpected turns, especially towards the end, and it left me wanting to read the next one straight away. I still can’t get over everything that happened. Keep an eye out for my review coming soon!

What Do You Think You’ll Read Next?

gathering darkness

I am pretty sure that Rebel Spring is going to leave me wanting more, so it’s a good thing that I have Gathering Darkness on my bookshelf, ready for me to dive into. It was either that or read Empire of Storms, but that book is even bigger than Queen of Shadows and I’m looking to finish another book this week. I guess I’ll have to wait and see how my current read ends.

WWW Wednesday – So Many Books!

WWW Wednesday was originally hosted by A Daily Rhythm, and was taken over by Taking on a World of Words.

I don’t know why, but all of a sudden I have turned into a reading machine. Last week I finished three books and already this week I am onto my second. I’m so happy about it because I am finally making my way through all the books on my TBR. I’m even five books ahead on my Goodreads challenge, with a total of twenty one read so far this year (I set myself a target of 50).

Unfortunately, I started an amazing series and only had the first book, so of course I have to buy the rest (not at once, don’t worry – I’m buying the next two). It just seems that all the books I am reading at the moment are amazing and I am loving each of them for different reasons.

What Are You Currently Reading?

queen of shadows

I am diving back into the incredible world created by Sarah J. Maas and it’s like I never stopped reading it. It’s been a good couple of months since I read Heir of Fire, but my memory has served me well. I started this last night and I’m already on page 110. This isn’t a small book by any means, so it’s going to take me longer than normal. However, I am looking forward to it and hope to finish it at least by the end of Saturday night (if I’m lucky).

What Did You Recently Finish Reading?

falling kngdoms

I recently finished Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes and I have to say, instant five star read. Where has this series been all my life? It was incredible! I read it in less than two days, which is happening a lot lately it seems. I cannot wait to read the rest of the series because I’ve heard that it only gets better.

What Do You Think You’ll Read Next?

rebel spring

It really depends. If my book delivery arrives before I finish Queen of Shadows, then I will be diving straight into Rebel Spring. I need to know what happens after the ending in the first. I feel like this series could become one of my favourites. We shall have to wait and see. However, if it doesn’t come then I will probably read either Empire of Storms, or start A Court of Thorns and Roses.

Less than one week to go until I have internet at the house and I cannot wait! Using my phone data has been getting me by, but the service out here in the countryside isn’t the best (I live in a village). However, I am getting back into my blogging and I have been reading some amazing books lately that I can’t wait to tell you about!

sky in the deep

Late last week I was notified that I had been approved on NetGalley to read Sky in the Deep, something I was thrilled about considering Amazon cancelled my pre-order and said they wouldn’t be stocking it. I picked this up Monday night (only reading 7% as it was late), but then I flew through it yesterday and I am now on 80%. You can be sure that I am going to finish this tonight. I am so invested in the story and these characters. Adrienne Young has created a unique world that feels so real and raw. I cannot wait to write a review for this book and show how much I am loving it. Plus, that cover is incredible!

What Did You Recently Finish Reading?

the-smoke-thieves

While I haven’t written the review yet (I’ll be getting to that tomorrow) I finished The Smoke Thieves on Monday and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. This was a great start to the trilogy, introducing us to all the characters, the world and the conflict that is surrounding them. I loved how each chapter was from one of the five perspectives (I think it was five) and how eventually their paths crossed. The dialogue in this was great, with some of my favourite scenes being with Tash, the thirteen year old demon hunter/thief, because she was hilarious. I’m looking forward to giving you all my thoughts.

Poor Nevernight keeps getting pushed to the bottom of the pile thanks to NetGalley reads, but I PROMISE I am going to finish it before the weekend is over. I’m a third of the way through, and thanks to how detailed the writing is I can remember everything that has happened so far. I’m looking forward to diving back into this strange and dark story.

Let me know in the comments below what book you are reading, or if you have read (or want to read) any of the three I have mentioned above.

WWW Wednesday – Hitting 250 Followers!

WWW Wednesday was originally hosted by A Daily Rhythm, and was taken over by Taking on a World of Words.

I just want to start by thanking the 250 people who follow my little blog. While the number may not seem huge, I’m just grateful that there are 250 of you who care about my thoughts and feeling on books. I’m hoping to do a giveaway when I reach 500 followers because that’s my next big goal.

Also, just a little heads up. My laptop has been playing up for the last few days (it keeps freezing, coming up with an error page) so I may have to send it off to see what is actually wrong with it. If that is the case then I may not be able to blog as much, but if my sister is nice enough I can borrow hers for a little bit. So that’s how my week is going so far. However, I have been reading an amazing book I can’t wait to finish.

ash princess

I am currently 72% through this ARC and oh my, it has gotten so good! It was a little slow to start with but the plot is coming together and I love the characters, especially a few in particular. Our Main character, Thora (or Theo as we find out) has lived a terrible, sad and brutal life under the strict rule of the Kaiser, a tyrant who came and took over her land, killing her mother. I recently just read a scene where I found myself holding my breath because it was so tense. I can’t wait to read the rest of it!

What Did You Recently Finish Reading?

the oracle queen

The last book I finished was the novella called The Oracle Queen and you can find my review here. It was good for a novella and I really enjoyed finding out about this particular Queen. The Oracle Queen is a sad tale, but I didn’t feel it offered much to the story of the three Queens. Honestly, I just read it because I need something to fill in the time until Two Dark Reigns comes out later on this year.

What Do You Think You’ll Read Next?

The next book I will be reading will be to finish off Nevernight, which I am currently a third of the way through. I put it to the side to finish Ash Princess as there is only two weeks lefts until it gets released and I want to get a review up soon. However, I have been enjoying Nevernight and cannot wait to dive back into the story again.

WWW Wednesday was originally hosted by A Daily Rhythm, and was taken over by Taking on a World of Words.

The long Easter weekend is coming up and I am so ready for a few days away from work, catching up on sleep and going out shopping for bits for our new home. I’ve already bought a lot of stuff but I feel like I haven’t even made a dent in the list. Not to mention the fact that everything seems so expensive *crying emoji*.

I’m also going to be doing a lot of reading over the five days I have off and if I can read a couple of books I will be more than happy. And do some editing of my WIP, obviously.

What Are You Currently Reading?

children of blood and bone

I have less than 100 pages to read and I can tell you now, this is my favourite book of 2018 so far. There have been some amazing debuts already this year, but this story is special. I was hooked from the beginning by the world that is cruel and dangerous, yet mystical. The characters are incredible and I have so much love for Zelie and her journey. I can’t forget to mention that the writing is amazing, so fast paced and the descriptions are great. I cannot wait to finish it tonight (because I will stay up late if I have to).

What Did You Recently Finish Reading?

siege and storm

I finished Siege and Storm a few days ago, but have yet to write a review for it. Hopefully I can get around to it tomorrow, but I really enjoyed the second instalment and am looking forward to seeing how it all ends for the characters, especially after that ending.

What Do You Think You’ll Read Next?

As you can see, I’m a little undecided on what to read next. As much as I want to carry on with the Throne of Glass series, I really want to start ACOTAR because everyone says how good it is. I will be reading Norse Mythology on my Kindle so I just have to decide between the other two. I’m sure you’ll find out which one I chose whenever a review gets uploaded.
